PASSING ON THE TRAINING PHILOSOPHY OF DETTMAR CRAMER

As a student of Sepp Herberger (world cup winner 1954) Dettmar Cramer represents a training philosophy adapting the Graeco-Roman ideals of education. Therefore, it is the personality development that Dettmar Cramer has placed in the center of football coaching.

  • Ahead of the Times

    Already in the beginning of his coaching career Dettmar Cramer had realized that youth training must consider „the functions of the nerve pathways“ (Dettmar Cramer 1952). Cramer’s training philosophy anticipated neuroscientific findings of the 1990ies („Decade of the Brain“).

  • Development of Player Personalities

    In many countries around the world Dettmar Cramer laid the foundation for football leagues, coaches’ training, youth development and the social integration/development through football.

Football

The football game is a social game: A team is successful if the team spirit and team play on the pitch comes together. Football training is also always a social behavior training, within teams, clubs and public. In sport of football one learn social responsibility and young players take it along on their life’s journey, as their attitude of life that characterizes their everyday life. During his FIFA assignment, besides game technique and tactics, Dettmar Cramer also passed on the social maxims of football to children and youths in more than 90 countries around the world.

Think Tank

Dettmar Cramer Foundation DCF is a Football Think Tank carrying on the legacy of worldwide reknown trainer/coach Dettmar Cramer (1925-2015).
DCF is specializing in the analysis of the cognitive foundations of football teams and players. Worldwide studies show: Not the physical, technical proficiency constitute talents (in sport in general) but the maturity of their basic brain structure ("EF executive functions") are instrumental to success on (and off) the pitch.

Project “Chinese Social Football”

  • We are preparing the expansion of the Chinese football population by establishing sustainable competition structures nationwide involving Chinese characteristics.

  • CSF will help to surpass the international benchmark for registered players set by Germany (6.9 million active players = 8.4% of German population.

  • Our objectives for China:
    • 140 million (10% of Chinese population) active players by 2025
    • giving match opportunities to millions of academies‘ graduates
    • incorporating social football values into Chinese society
    • bringing Chinese amateur football to the digital world connecting clubs, players, business.

Project “Village Football India”

  • 400 million Indian football fans are ready for the sports and educational adventure of a lifetime.

  • Paramount objectives of VFI:
    • VFI allows research showing football’s contributions to players’ and nations’ literacy.
    • VFI allows all companies producing in India to show social responsibility.

  • Our current project Village Football India VFI will unite German football competence and football enthusiasm of rural Indian youth:
    • Since May 2018 more 800 players in some 30 teams from NCR Delhi and states of Haryana and Maharashtra did follow our call and joined VFI.
    • By end of 2018 we will establish leagues to improve Indian football quality and
    • by 2020 we will organize the first all India VFI-Championship boys/girls.

"Football Intelligence & Research in Asia“

  • Under the trademark FI Football Intelligence we have developed training concepts enabling coaches to develop players' EF and to determine their ideal positions in a team.

  • We further conduct scientific research to identify the FI of teams, clubs, associations, leagues, national federations to raise the FI status of regions, age groups, both male, female, and develop concepts to improve individual and overall performance abilities.

  • Raising the average football standard is considered a crucial means to raise average intelligence and to raise socio-economic prosperity.

  • Research Question: Effects of playing football in a team competing in a league on the EF of kids?

  • Testing EF of non-/football kids, gender related comparisons.

Research Project "Dettmar Cramer’s footsteps in Asia“

  • In the 1990s, 2000s Dettmar Cramer held many seminars throughout Asia. Research goals:
    • Reconstruct the seminars‘ contents
    • Role of philosophical and social aspects
    • Investigate the lessons participants have learned, and forms they applied the knowledge into Asian football

  • Research Question: How did Asian football develop technically and in terms of football values?
